NMD201 week12

For my design concept, I would like to show about the life in Darwin. The footage all comes from my real life in Darwin. I just choice some special and the most impression places for my E-Protfolio. Darwin is a multicultural city in Australia, which attracts many tourists every year. My concept is divided into 6 parts which includes the Home page, Mindil beach, Wild Life Park, Jumping crocodile Cruise, my video products and contact details.

First of all, at the first page, a map of Darwin and the beautiful view in the city were showed beside the introduction of Darwin. The parts of Mindil Beach, Wild Life Park and Jumping Crocodile Cruise were showed by images that were taken by myself. I am a person who like photographs and share my favourite photos with people. Hope them will bring happy and information to people when they look at them.

It is also included the video products, such as the Meaning-Making Media Fragments and Being A Territory. The first one is a remix editing by using Final Cut Pro in this semester. It is a group product. “Being A Territory” showed the multicultural society in the Northern Territory and it was created by myself. My contact details also had been mentioned for people who want have communication with me. I am happy to receive the feedback and any suggestion from the viewers. It is an opportunity for me to enhance myself.

It is clear that the life in Darwin is full of fantastic. To enjoy the natural environment, multicultural society and the relaxed lifestyle will give you a different life in Darwin.

The link below is my final web design, please feel free to give me feedback and suggestion. Thank you.

NMD201 week11

Only one week to go in this semester. This week, we all concentrate on the final project-e-Portfolio. For my e-Portfolio, I would like to show the life in Darwin. As a personal e-Portfolio, I also want to upload my video products which I had done before. Some of them were created by myself, others were created from group work. My e-Portfolio is divided into 6 parts which are the Home page- Life in Darwin, Sunset in Mindil Beach, Wild Life Park, Jumping Crocodile Cruise, my video products and the contact details of me. The most impression place for me is Mindil Beach that it is only open 5 months from May to October every year. Mindil Beach is a good place to look the amazing sunset and enjoy the multicultural food in Darwin. Mindil Beach is also a market which is selling the native souvenir and some crafts on Thursday and Sunday only. In brief, it is a good place to relax and spend the weekend.

NMD201 week10

This week, we continued the studying on Dreamweaver. From the class exercises, we learnt about how to design and edit a new web page by using Dreamweaver. Firstly, we need have a main page which could includes editable regain, so that we can creative a serious of related pages from this original template. We also can change and re-edit the content in the editable regain part which was maintained in the main web page. The next thing we can do in Dreamweaver is that inserts images, videos and even tables in the web page. The size of images can be changed into suitable that we need. So, the web page can be designed nicer. One of the most interesting part is that insert the table into web page. It not only shows us a table, but also it can include images and different colors in the table. The table is also important part of the web page, especially for the titles and catalogues. Table makes the structure of the web page more clearly and it points the things that people can easy to find it. It is very useful in the understanding of web design and web studying. We can create our own web page by using Dreamweaver. Even the web editing is complex and difficult, it is still good to know and study on it. To enhance our web knowledge and promote our study skill that it will gain more confidence for our future study and even work.

NMD201 week9

This week, we continue to study on Dreamweaver, the study of Dreamweaver is a challenge for me. I never touch this part before-web design. So I have to start from zero to learn about Dreamweaver. Even Dreamweaver is much easier than HTML during web editing. I still have many problems when I work on Dreamweaver. Comparing with html, the preview web window and the editing languages are showed synchronously in Dreamweaver. It is a positive thing for web editors who work on the web design. It supports a workplace for web editor to change and upgrade the information on the web. From the study of Dreamweaver- the web designs. I got a lot of web design knowledge. In the modern time, the increasing number of people who use the internet, they come from different age groups such as children and even elderly people. People spent their daily life on the internet; one of the reasons is that people enjoy the special web style. It means that it is important for web design. It is also important for our New Media students to study on this area and get more experiences of web design.

NMD201 week8

This week, we had over view all the knowledge which from the lecture last week. More information was mentioned on the lecture. Some basic languages were introduced by using HTML, such as <bg=red> that it means the color of the background. <img src=”name of the image.jpg”> this is use for inserting an image. <p>and <br> they have the same meaning of paragraph. After we know the basic knowledge of HTML, we start to move on the study of Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is a web development application which includes the editing function of HTML.  Dreamweaver and HTML are the similarly applications for web development and web editing. However, Dreamweaver is easier and quicker to edit than HTML. Dreamweaver also supports a preview window for web editors. As can be seen from the pictures below show the web that created by using HTML.

NMD201 week7

This week we start moving to work on Interactive Sequences for Web. In this part, we need to create a portfolio on the web by using HTML. HTML is Hypertext Markup Language. I have not done any web work before, so, this is a new area for me and it is a challenge for me to study on New Media.

HTML boot camp includes 3 characters. First, the file names must be lowercase. Next, use no special characters. The last is that use “html” extension. Some key HTML tags were showed below,
<head></head> this tag use in the beginning and end of the web.
<a></a> this tag use to link two webs.

The reason for us to create an eProtfolio is that our design skills can be showed on eProtfolio. It is also a convenience function for us to promoting ourselves. We can start with thinking about the goal of this project. For example, the direction of eProtfolio could show culture communication, personalities and so on. It is also a new style CV for people to look for a job. So that contact detail is the most important part in eProtfolio.

NMD201 week6

This week is the last week for video remixes study. In this class, we did the last editing of our project “Meaning-making Media Fragment”. We adjusted the sound level of all the audio clips to normalize and add audio transition among audio clips. So, it will not sound strange. The final step is exporting, two versions are required. One is high quality that exports to Quick Time movie with current setting. Another is small size video that should upload on ABC Pool (320*180). In order to upload our final remix project on the ABC Pool website, the size of video has to be under 50MB. So, the quality of this video has to be decrease. Anyway, I enjoy the study of video remix. It is a challenge for me to explore a new area. Although it is difficult to search the creative commons resources, such as video, audio and image, it is important to improve my knowledge of New Media and more experience to create.

The linker below is my project on ABC Pool.
